The original shademakers line was created by Russell Bond after realising the potential for an up market, sophisticated shade umbrella that would combine functionality and design. After importing various umbrellas from overseas and experiencing their limitations regarding design and functionality, Russel decided to develop his own unique line of shademakers. Taking on the world
"New Zealand is renowned for superior quality boat building, so I applied that knowledge to my shademaker designs," says Russell.
"We took aluminium and created proprietary shapes all exclusive to our umbrella components, making them well suited for a commercial marine environment and ultimately creating Shademakers, a product of longevity, beauty and low maintenance."
